Why is the clutch plate club important?
When racing speedway making a good start off the line is crucial, the clutch plays the biggest part in this and is a high maintenance component. There are 3 types of clutch plates used, these are: Alloy, Fibre and Composite. Alloy & Composite plates will last up to 10 meetings, Fibre plates will need replacing after 2 meetings due to the excessive wear. After engine services the clutch is the most expensive item to maintain on the bike. This is why the Clutch Plate Club is so important.
